20 Dec Signing off for 2015!!
I’m going to keep this one nice and short, we’ve all got places to be and people to see during the holiday season.
I’ve had quite the tumultuous year! I changed jobs in January, left said job in May to start Novemnine, then I got married in July and have been nice and busy with work ever since! I have worked on some great projects with some amazing people and have had my eyes opened to some really interesting businesses. I have started working more and more with one of my closest friends on some new and exciting projects and now I am signing off looking forward to 2016 with excitement!
I was nervous when I left my job in May. It was a pretty big step for me to just leave the relative safety of employment to try something new, but I’m glad I have. I’ve only been self-employed for seven months but have never been so happy with my work situation. Every project that I complete is hugely rewarding and I’ve been able to meet some fascinating people.
Really, I’ve only just started in this world of self-employment and I’m sure to make mistakes along the way but so far so good. I put a lot of pressure on myself when I work and I have extremely high standards, so being the only person responsible suits me quite nicely.
In 2016 I’m hoping to grow my business – particularly the Social Media management offering – and get involved with some more free lancers to deliver projects. I have worked with some talented marketeers in the past and hope to get some of them to come and deliver high quality work, worthy of the new ‘Novemnine’ brand.
While it’s still very early and I am only just starting out, NONE of this would have been possible without the support of my new wife, Daniëlle. She has had my back from day one and has encouraged me during some low points – I mentioned in my wedding speech there is no better place than by Daniëlle’s side and there is no one I’d rather have on my team (apart from Batman, maybe).
I’d also like to thank my friends and family for their support during this transitional time. My Mum and Dad have been completely supportive, but really helped me believe I could do this. My brother and father are both successful business owners and have guided me in the setup of Novemnine and, I’m sure, will continue to help me out. I’d also like to thank my friend Jai, who has helped me out with guidance when I was building my website and has referred several clients to me for copywriting – it gave me a real kick start and an excuse to work with his team at Jaijo Creative. In 2016 I will be more involved with his business as we look to offer a social media management service under the Jaijo umbrella.
I’d also like to thank you, for reading! Just reading stuff that I write is support; whether you mean to or not, your visit to my blog is really appreciated, and who knows you might need someone like me in the future and hopefully this will stick in your mind for a return visit.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year and here’s to a successful 2016!
